Ready

It seems like all that has been on my mind for the past 6 months is
preparing for this trip, and it is coming up fast. With 3 and a half
weeks left until we take our first steps toward Mount Katahdin, I am
both anxious and excited. It seems like I still have a lot of fine
tuning to do before I'm completely ready, but then again I wish I was
leaving tomorrow. I'm looking forward to just going with the flow,
living on no schedule except the one I set for myself. So to plan each
and every detail of my trip seems almost against the spirit of
adventure that so attracts me to do something like this. I'm ready to
wake up every day and enjoy the beautiful planet that God has set
before us. I'm ready to step outside the current of "life" that seems
to pull so many people straight through before they even stop to enjoy
the journey. I'm ready to be challenged, and know that I can overcome
it one step at a time. Who knows, maybe i'll enjoy hiking the AT so
much that I'll never fully make it back. That's what I hope for. A
fresh perspective on how I'm spending my energy and where I want to go
in life. I can't wait to get away from TV, the internet, texting,
Facebook, working, studying, and the current culture that leads so
many people to unfulfilling lives. So here's to March 2nd, our start
date. Can't wait to see what's in store.
